PROVINCE OF APAYAO, January 22, 2020 – The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) awarded 199 packages of aquaculture inputs to fisherfolk from the municipalities of Conner and Kabugao under the Tilapia Pond Culture Project for FY 2019.
A total of 191 fishers from Conner received 137 packages while 103 fishers from Kabugao got 62 packages.
A package includes 1,000 tilapia fingerlings and two bags of feeds. The project costs Php 304,400 for Conner, and Php 136,400 for Kabugao.
The distribution was led by the Provincial Fishery Officers of BFAR-CAR, Michelle Claveria, Eric Jay Juan, and Ronelio Duldulao.
Representatives from Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) were also present during the awarding, spearheaded by Mariachi Ventura, George Michael Soriano, and Michelle Sevilla. They are assisting the fisherfolk to fill out the PCIC insurance forms.
In four months, they will have their first harvest of tilapia. ###
