Small Margus Farmers Association celebrates harvest festival

SARANGANI, January 21, 2020 – Ninety (90) Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) B’laan farmers of the Small Margus Farmers Association from Sitio Kare, Barangay Small Margus, Glan celebrated their first Upland Rice Harvest Festival under the Diversified Upland Rice Production Project.

Every harvest, they conduct a celebration that aims to give thanks for the bountiful harvest, resolved challenges (such as the El Niño calamity), and significant experiences of the association.

With project, the group harvested 30 tons of upland rice covering 30 hectares, which is for their families’ food consumption. The dinorado variety planted has an aromatic fragrant and sweet taste. When cooked, the rice is soft and delicious.

OPAG Agricultural Technician Jetro Molana gave an inspiring message to the farmer-beneficiaries. He emphasized their roles and responsibilities in the management and success of the project.

The association’s next planting season is tentatively between the months of March to May 2020. ###
