November 18, 2019

CAR – In a meeting on the 15th of November 2019, Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Director Myer Mula discussed the program’s enhanced implementing guidelines for FY 2020-2022 with implementers from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). Present in the meeting were Regional Executive Director Cameron Odsey, Regional Technical Director Danilo Daguio, BFAR representative Lois Fermin and SAAD Regional Program Management Support Officers.

The program aims to alleviate poverty by providing agricultural livelihood and development interventions in marginalized and farming communities of the country. The improved logical framework was tackled such as the social mobilization component with a community organizing sub-component; and, marketing assistance and enterprise development seeks to identify markets, establish linkages and also establish communal agri-enterprises.

With President Rodrigo Duterte’s thrust to increase food production and reduce poverty in the country, DA Secretary William D. Dar continually supported and promised to strengthen the program. The program also added those under the Executive Order No. 70, series of 2018.

The implementing guidelines of the program was improved on November 5, 2019 to complement Sec. Dar’s 8 Paradigms of “the New Thinking Strategy”, which are increasing productivity and making farmers and fishers prosperous. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) and Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) were included as support and co-implementing agencies. ###
