The beneficiaries were 30 farmers of the said association.
With many hardships along its project implementation, the Canibungan FA finally reaped its rewards. The farmers sold 699.8 kilograms (kgs) of liveweight chicken with an income of more than Php 58,000 to a private distributor.
According to the National Meat Inspection Service, the quality of the chicken meat was good.
The broiler chickens were delivered to a dressing plant within the municipality.
SAAD Zamboanga del Norte Area Coordinator Catherine Aranton, who helped and guided the farmers in project implementation, hopes that the remaining 625 chickens will meet the required minimum weight standard of the buyer in the next harvest on August 26, 2019.
The buyer’s weight requirement is set at 1.3 kg per liveweight chicken.
The SAAD Program in DA Regional Field Office IX also provided corn and ginger livelihood production projects to Canibungan FA in 2018. ###
