SAAD holds FY 2019 2nd Quarter Physical and Financial Assessment

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) held its FY 2019 Second Quarter Physical and Financial National Assessment at the Chali Beach Resort and Conference Center in Cagayan de Oro on August 5-9, 2019.

The DA Regional Field Office (RFO) X, led by OIC-Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, hosted the event.

DA-SAAD Program Director Bernadette F. San Juan, in her opening remarks, reiterated the importance of helping the SAAD farmer-partners rise from poverty.

Present in the assessment were selected officials and focal persons from the NPMO and all DA-SAAD implementing regions (CAR, IV-B, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, and XIII), as well as those from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) -SAAD).

Also in the event were representatives from the DA Central Office’s Special Projects Coordination and Management Assistance Division (SPCMAD), Investment Program Division (IPD), and Planning and Programming Division (PPD), Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS), and Accounting Division (AD).

SAAD Planning and Monitoring Group Head Ulysses J. Lustria, Jr. presented the overall accomplishments.

While each region presented their current physical and financial statuses, they also showed recent triumphs of their respective provinces. After each presentation, participants were encouraged to ask questions and suggest points for improvement.

A video presentation from the DA RFO IX’s recently concluded SAAD Saga event held in Dipolog City on July 9, 2019 was shown, featuring highlights and success stories from Zamboanga del Norte.

SAAD Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Coordinator Ronilo Dusaban also shared the process of conducting the event and other preparations made.

On the other hand, the top three performing regions were awarded certificates of recognition. With physical accomplishments (30%), obligations (40%), and disbursements (40%) in consideration, Regions VIII (90.02%), V (65.83%) and X (64.67%) were recognized as the best performing regions.

The SAAD NPMO also presented the FY 2020 plan and budget proposal as well as the updates on tracking of beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, all SAAD implementing units already finalized the dates of their SAAD Saga events. ###
