SAAD LDS finally distributes 2017 interventions for native chicken production

LANAO DEL SUR – The Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program in Lanao del Sur finally distributed the 1,420 heads of native chicken for the Livelihood Enhancement Through Improved Livestock and Poultry Production Project of the program in 2017 on 29 March 2019.

The intervention was supposed to be delivered earlier of 2018 but the DA Regional Field Office (RFO) 10 was hindered by the peace and order issue in the province.

In 2017, Lanao del Sur underwent a five-month-long armed conflict between the government and the militants known as the Marawi siege.

That is why the DA RFO 10 had a difficult time implementing the SAAD project in the province.

With the persistence of DA RFO 10, it finally delivered the chickens to 150 farmer-partners in Bacolod Kalawi in the first quarter of 2019. Each farmer received eight native chickens.

For the municipality of Marogong, 220 native chickens were distributed to the beneficiaries. Each recipient received 10 chickens.

The distribution of the intervention made the Lanao del Sur farmer-partners glad because a promise has been fulfilled. ###
