DA-SAAD farmer-partners in Apayao eye business featuring cassava products

APAYAO, PHILIPPINES—The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) conducted a cassava livelihood training in the municipality of Flora and Pudtol on 27-28 February 2018.

There are forty (40) participants from each of the municipalities for a total of eighty (80) attendees. Ms. Lunadita Uniana served as the resource person. She showed different recipe types that the attendees can make use of cassava, which is cassava cake including cookies, polvoron, puto, maja blanca, twisted cassava, long johns, and many more.

Many of the attendees are encouraged to start their small businesses using what they have learned in the training. The event was successfully conducted with the cooperation of the Provincial and Municipal Local Government Unit (P/MLGU) staff, SAAD staff including Area Coordinators (ACs) Ms. Ruby Ann Batara Vicerra, and Ms. Marjorie Africano Tangliben. ###
