LUNA, APAYAO—A unit of hand tractor has been awarded to the BISS Farmers Association (FA) by the Department of Agriculture (DA) – Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) in Payanan Sports Complex, Luna, Apayao on March 6, 2018.

The FA received the agri-intervention, as represented by their President, Mr. Pedro Serquinia. It was awarded by Apayao LGU Senior Agriculturist Mr. Rey Vicerra, together with Area Coordinator of Flora and Sta. Marcela, Ms. Marjorie A. Tangliben.

Meanwhile in the municipalities of Pudtol, DA-SAAD Apayao awards interventions to five (5) more SAAD FAs—ECASAN FA (Mr. Estanislao Acob, President), CASS FA (Ms. Elizabeth Camangeg, President), SLD FA (Mr. Fernandez Licuan, President) which received a one corn sheller and one hand tractor each. Proceeding to Luna, a hand tractor unit has been received by the Midstream Livelihood FA through their Vice President, Mr. Benedict Gorospe. Upstream Livelihood FA on the other hand, received a unit of hand tractor as well as a corn sheller, as represented by their President, Ms. Girlie Miguel.

The series of awarding was successful through the help of Mr. Rey Vicerra; SAAD Apayao Area Coordinator of Luna & Pudtol, Ms. Ruby Ann Vicerra; Agri Tech II Mr. Jeffrey Calizo and Mr. Roniel Dugay; and Municipal Agriculturist of Luna, Mr. Florencio Agustin.

Beneficiaries went home with high hopes and smiles on their faces when they received these machineries. They are hoping that farming will now get easier for them and would lead to a fruitful production and more earnings for their family.

SAAD was launched in Apayao in 2016, aiming to alleviate poverty through the provision of livelihood programs.
