SAAD North Cotabato distributes 400 heads of mallard ducks in Pigcawayan

NORTH COTABATO — A total of 400 heads of mallard duck was distributed by the Department of Agriculture’s Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) North Cotabato to the beneficiaries of two (2) farmer associations – the OFW Association and Midpapan Farmers Association. Each association received 200 heads of mallard duck at Pigcawayan, North Cotabato last February 19, 2018.

Together with OFW Association and the Midpapan Farmers Association, there are three (3) association beneficiaries who will also receive the same commodities in March 2018. These are People with Disability Association, Skylab Driver’s Association, and Bagong Pag-asa Credit Cooperative.

 

As a part of the turnover ceremony, social preparation was conducted for the five (5) farmer association beneficiaries by SAAD staff headed by Provincial Coordinator Jerry W. Tingson to assess the farmers’ readiness to accept the project.  Also provided was a little technique in mallard duck farming and discussion on the sustainability of the project by farmers’ association.

Engr. Milagros Casis, DA-12 Regional Executive Director, gave an encouraging message to the farmers and details on the SAAD program. She acknowledged each farmers’ association president for leading their organizations, and the Office of Municipal Agriculturist, Barangay Councils, and SAAD Coordinators for facilitating the program.

The farmer-beneficiaries gave their appreciation on the interventions they received from DA-SAAD including the action of Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol for the changes in Department of Agriculture. ###
