Antique is a lone district comprising 18 municipalities listed in the Table 1 and has a total of 590 barangays (PSA 2018). San Jose de Buenavista serves as its provincial capital.
Based on (PSA 2018), Palay has the largest volume of production in the province. It also shows that among all the major crops produced, sugarcane has the highest yield in Antique.
the major livestock and poultry that are produced in Antique for the backyard and commercial purposes based on PSA data as of July 1, 2019. Swine has 74,140 heads and is considered the greatest number of production among all the livestock. On the other hand, chicken, which is classified into broiler, layer, and native/improved, has the greatest total number of poultry heads yielding with 974,745 heads compared to duck which has only 171,960 heads both for the backyard and commercial purposes.
Based on the National Stock Assessment Program (NSAP) data for 2019, the Auxis rochei (Tulingan) is the top harvested fishery commodity across the municipalities in terms of volume. Other fishery commodities include Thunnus albacares (Yellow fin), Katsuwonus pelamis (Gulyasan), Mene maculate (Moon fish), among others.
In terms of the poverty incidence situation in Antique, the municipality of San Remigio has the highest poverty incidence while municipality of San Jose has the lowest.
Agriculture Sector
In 2019, SAAD is implemented in Antique with a total project allotment of Php13,450,000. There are ten livelihood projects to be provided for 30 individuals and 15 groups. But, 17 groups benefited in 10 livelihood projects because, during the planning stage, the assumption production area per beneficiary is 1 hectare. It turned out that the beneficiaries only have ¼ hectare each, thus, the inputs versus beneficiary ratio decreased which resulted in an increase in the number of beneficiaries formed into 2 groups as well.The municipalities of San Remigio and Laua-an were selected because during the planning stage, they belong to the top 4 municipalities who had the highest poverty incidence based on PSA 2015: 35.3% for San Remigio and 24.1% for Laua-an.
The tables below reflect the list of municipalities selected as the beneficiaries of SAAD Program for the year of 2019. This is based on the data from the Philippine Statistics Authority 2015. The projects are implemented by the Department of Agriculture.
