LANAO DEL NORTE, October 21, 2024 – Twenty-five (25) members of Kadoldolan Farmers’ Association received seven upgraded cattle worth Php 296,415 from the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) to boost local livestock production in the municipality of Linamon, Lanao del Norte.

Kadoldolan Farmers’ Association (FA), composed of 25 vegetable farmers and livestock raisers, is a beneficiary of the SAAD Program’s FY 2024 Integrated Livestock and HVC Production Project valued at Php 1,317,500. Included under this project, apart from the upgraded cattle, are various vegetable seeds, garden tools, biologics, and training. These agri-inputs are set to be delivered in December 2024.

Kadoldolan FA is among the groups identified by the SAAD Program covered under the Phase 2 implementation in Lanao del Norte for the years 2023 to 2028. Residents of Barangay Robocon in Linamon, the group is operating on an estimated land area of five hectares (ha) for livestock and vegetable production.

About Kadoldolan Farmers’ Association

Established in 2023, the members of Kadoldolan FA have been engaging in agricultural activities, particularly in cultivating fruit and vegetables and raising livestock and poultry animals, such as chicken, duck, goat, swine, and cattle. They get their income from selling bananas (saba), vegetable gardening, backyard animal raising, and labor.

For their additional source of income, some of them have sari-sari stores, and others work as tricycle drivers.

Based on the assessment conducted by the SAAD Northern Mindanao Area Coordinator, the Program identified Integrated Livestock and HVC Production as their project as all the members of the association engage in vegetable gardening and have experience in raising cattle. They also have existing livestock animals domesticated in their backyards.

In 2023, the Kadoldolan FA farmers received 20 head of cattle, garden tools and biologics. At present, four of the 20 cattle have already given birth and three are currently pregnant. ###
