390 Bien Unido farmers granted with Php 3.8M worth livestock, crop production projects

BOHOL, September 1, 2021– The Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program in Region 7 distributed Php 3,850,219 worth of livestock and crop production intervention to 390 farmers in Bien Unido, Bohol.

The livelihood projects provided are 35 Carabao (Php 2,190,000), assorted Vegetables (Php 1,192,919), Corn-Peanut (Php 360,100), and Sweet Potato, and Banana (Php 107,200).  Other inputs included are: plows, fertilizers, weighing scales, plastic mulch, and plastic drums delivered on August 27 at the Bien Unido Sports Complex, Bien Unido, Bohol.

The SAAD farmers are from barangays Poblacion (62), Tuburan (45), Mandawa (68), Nueva Esperanza (65), Nueva Estrella (64), Liberty (62), and Pinamgo Island (24).

Bien Unido Mayor Rene Bonegara extend his heartfelt gratitude to the program. He said, “Dakong’ kalipay nako sa kaayohan nga gi dala ni SAAD nga programa sa DA diri sa atong munisipyo ug sa probinsya sa Bohol. Usa rami ka instrumento nga matagaan  sa SAAD aning mga interventions and inputs. Kining kabaw makatabang gayud kini ninyo para sa inyong panginabuhian. Swerti mo nga kamo ang nakadawart. Hinaot inyong ampingan ug amomahon ang inyong mga nadawat. Padayon kitang magtinabangay kanunay.”

(I am very happy for all the good things that DA-SAAD has brought to our municipality. We were just an instrument sent to give these interventions to you (farmers). These carabaos will help you in your livelihood. You are very blessed to have become the recipients of the projects. I hope that you will take good care of the interventions you received. Let us all cooperate.)

Also present at the activity were Poblacion Barangay Captain Vanessa N. Avenido, Agriculture Provincial Coordinating Officer Bohol Roman M. Dabalos, Provincial Fishery Officer Mr. Jethrone Colaste, and SAAD provincial staff.

SAAD Partners with Ubay Stock Farm

SAAD Bohol linked partnership with the Ubay Stock Farm for the Integrated Carabao-based Production Project to ensure the health and safety of interventions.

Prior to distribution, Dr. Marc Siegfred Diestro inspected the livestock auction market in Sagbayan, Bohol. Out of 40 carabaos tested, 35 passed the standards and were included in the distributed interventions in Bien Unido.

The FY 2021 Integrated Carabao Production Project has a total budget allocation of Php 11,093,610 to support 300 beneficiaries in Bohol.

SAAD Bohol aims to distribute another set of carabaos and other farm inputs to the beneficiaries in Carlos P. Garcia, Bohol in the first week of September.###
