10 ZDN farmers expect 61.4MT rice harvest through SAAD project

ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE, September 21, 2021 – Ten members of the Rizalina Farmers Association from Zamboanga del Norte are expecting a cumulative harvest of 61.4 metric tons (MT) of rice in October through the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program.

According to the SAAD local area coordinator Janeen Ivana S. Golis, the association received 15 bags of rice seeds (Php 24,000), 30 bags of urea (Php 54,600), and complete fertilizer (Php 54,600) to cover 15 hectares of rice fields.

In another development, two hundred female and 20 male ducks (Php 200,000) and 40 bags of feeds (Php 76,000) were also delivered on September 15, 2021.

All interventions provided are under the SAAD Program’s Rice-Duck Production Project worth Php 409,200.

“With their profound unity and determination as a group to succeed, I am very hopeful that this project will surely go a long way. Someday the Rizalina FA will become a balut supplier in this community,” Golis said.

Association President Primitivo Montano was very elated with the support given to them. “We commit a hundred percent of our hard work in sustaining this project,” said the Rizalina FA president.

The DA-SAAD is committed to provide quality services to its farmer-partners in support of the DA’s twin goals, Masaganang Ani at Mataas Na Kita. ###
