Agusan Radio features DA-SAAD Program for the fishery sector

QUEZON CITY, April 8, 2021- DXGP 89.7 Agusan Radio featured the fishery sector of the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program in Kalambuan sa Pangisdaan’s (Development in Fisheries) first episode.

Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Provincial Fishery Officer (PFO) Bimbo C. Lagare, together with support staff Lou Dee G. Ortega and Jaesam C. Cimagala, shared that the SAAD Program distributed 80 fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) paddle boats worth Php 25,000 per unit this year.

Each beneficiary from Esperanza (10), San Francisco (20), Talacogon (10), Loreto (10), Rosario (10), and Bunawan (20) received the boats along with feeds and other fishing materials.

In the coming episode, there will be a discussion on the freshwater ecosystem and other fish species in Agusan del Sur, including tilapia which is the main commodity raised in SAAD projects.

BFAR SAAD Agusan del Sur allotted Php 10.5 million budget in FY 2021 for the benefit of 268 households and 14 groups (178 members).

The “Kalambuan sa Pangisdaan” radio program is expected to increase awareness of the public on the BFAR in fisheries management and its collaborative efforts with the local government units for the development of the fishery sector.

It aims to reinforce strategic communication by promoting local, specific and appropriate fisheries technology and share success stories, which will be mostly on the SAAD program in the province.

The radio program airs live on Mondays from 11:00 – 11:30 in the morning and can be accessed at facebook.com/dxgpagusanradio. Simultaneous broadcasts can be viewed through Gemstar Cable TV, Channel 3 and 4 in the province. ###
