70 Poona Piagapo farmers receive vegetable project worth Php 2.1M

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL, October 8, 2020 – Seventy (70) individual farmer-beneficiaries from Barangay Poblacion and Barangay Pendulonan in Poona Piagapo received vegetable gardening materials worth Php 2.1 million under the Integrated Agricultural Livelihood Project of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program for FY 2019.

Each beneficiary got a package of vegetable seeds (ampalaya, okra, squash, string beans, and eggplant), inorganic fertilizer, hand rake, flat hand shovel, hand gloves, knapsack sprayer, water drum, and 7 pieces of plastic seedling tray. 

The activity was attended by Mayor Muslima T. Macol, Municipal Agriculturist Nasif O. Mamarinta, Barangay Captains Jamilah L. Musa (Poblacion), Monabe T. Fernando (Pendulonan) and SAAD Area Coordinator, John Carlo O. Sabares held at barangay Pendulonan.

This delivery completes the SAAD assistance to the bonafide SAAD farmers in the town totaling to Php 7.4 million. The initial delivery was the Poultry Egg Production amounting to Php 5.3 million consisting 4,800 heads of ready-to-lay chicken, chicken cage, egg trays, chicken feeds, shade house, sacks, flat hand shovel, hand gloves, tingting walis, and technical training.

To strengthen these farmers, Poona Piagapo SAAD Farmers Association is being processed and registered at the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
