SAAD Region 12 distributes 3,000 Muscovy ducks to Sarangani beneficiaries

SARANGANI – May 15-19, 2020 – A total 150 Sarangani farmers expressed their gratitude to the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program as they received Php 1.5 million worth of 3,000 Muscovy ducks. 

The ducks are part of the Integrated Open-Pollinated Variety (OPV) White Corn with Poultry and Vegetables Production Project worth Php 6,968,080 under FY 2019.

The animals, intended for egg and meat production, were provided to 150 farmers from Barangays Datal Bila and Datal Batong (30 beneficiaries) in Malungon; Barangay Bagacay (30 beneficiaries) in Alabel; Barangay Amsipit (30 beneficiaries) in Maasim; Barangay Gasi (30 beneficiaries) in Kiamba; and Barangay New La Union (30 beneficiaries) in Maitum. 

Each farmer received 20 head of Muscovy ducks, with a minimum weight of 1.5 kilos, amounting to Php10,000.

In October 2019, all farmer-beneficiaries of the said project already received OPV corn seeds, foliar fertilizer, knapsack sprayer, free-range chicken, pinakbet seeds (okra, eggplant, ampalaya, and tomato), shovel, bolo, hand trowel, and a technical training on Corn Production and Management. 

The distribution done by the SAAD Region 12 team is in cooperation with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Municipal Agriculture Offices, and provincial, municipal, and barangay Local Government Units. ###
