SAAD distributes more than 2,700 mallard ducks in Bukidnon

IMPASUGONG, BUKIDNON – The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program in the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 10 distributed 2,757 mallard ducks to Bukidnon farmers on October 15, 2019.

One hundred (100) farmers from barangays Kalabugao and Hagpa, Impasugong received the ducks as part of the Integrated Agricultural Livelihood Project of SAAD Bukidnon for FY 2018.

The mallard duck production, coined as ‘Itik Pinas Project’, will contribute to the food security and poverty alleviation of the local farmers. It also aims to increase the duck population in the area and contribute to the production of eggs for the balut and salted egg industry.

The farmers will market the eggs to the local buyers, who transport them to Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental.

This December 2019, the farmers will attend a training on Itik Pinas Production.

Aside from Impasugong, the municipalities of Talakag, Baungon, Malitbog, Cabanglasan, San Fernando, Quezon, Kitaotao, Kibawe, Damulog, Pangantucan, Kadingilan, and Kalilangan are also beneficiaries of the Integrated Agricultural Livelihood Project.

Beneficiaries will get support on corn, vegetable, coffee, cacao, and livestock & poultry production. Livestock and poultry assistance varies covering cattle, mallard duck, and swine. ###
