Farmer Associations in Apayao received 30 horses from TIKA

CONNER, APAYAO – The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) awarded horses to farmer-partners in the province of Apayao through the Special Area of Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) last September 18, 2019.

Two farmer associations, the Katablangan Indigenous Farmer’s Association and the Nanawatan Nabuangan Upland Developer Association, each received 12 mares and 3 stallions. Prior to the delivery, the farmer-partners were trained on September 3-4 by the SAAD Program.

Barangay Chairmen, Hon. Benito Lugayan and Hon. Isidro Lebang from Katablangan and Nanawatan, respectively, received the horses for the associations.

The awarding was led by Mr. Mohamed Enes Hancioglu, Deputy Country Director of TIKA, and Mr. Danilo P. Daguio, Regional Focal Person of SAAD-CAR.

Also present were Digna D. Villanueva from the Agricultural Production Coordinating Office (APCO) of Apayao, Daisy B. Yogyog, Jovy Valenciano and Dr. Dale Askey Reyes, personnel from the Regional Program Management Support Office (RPMSO), Area Coordinator Garry D. Tinguey, Agricultural Technicican Shirla T. Kengay, Karen D. Drapriza, personnel from the Provincial Program Management Support Office (PPMSO), and personnel from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Conner, Apayao.

Aside from the awarding, there were also 5 units of multi-tiller given to the Calaoan Livelihood Farmer’s Association, Nabuangan Region Livelihood Association, and Baren Farmer’s Association. Each association received 1, 1, and 3 units, respectively.###
