APAYAO, CORDILLERA ADMINISTRATIVE REGION – The municipality of Flora, Apayao celebrated its Kabinnulig Festival 2019 and it highlighted the awarding of certificates of 5 units of hand tractors and 58 head of sheep through the Department of Agriculture’s Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program.
The hand tractors were awarded to the 3 associations in the municipality led by Mayor Rodolfo B. Juan, together with the Municipal Local Government Unit. SAMMBA (Sta. Maria, Mallig, Malayugan and Balluyan) Farmers Association received one unit, while MAST (Malubibit Norte, Malubibit Sur, Anninipan, San Jose and Tamalunog) Farmers Association and ABUWEB (Atok, Bagutong, Upper Atok, Poblacion West, Poblacion East, and Balasi) Farmers Association received two units each.
The hand tractors, which cost P825,000.00, were given last June 19, 2019.
Together with the distribution of hand tractors, 58 head of sheep were also distributed to the municipalities of Flora and Sta. Marcela. Thirty head of sheep were given to SAMMBA Farmers Association of Flora while the 28 head of sheep were given to Sta. Marcela. The sheep, worth P1,740,000.00, were gladly received by the SAAD partners.
The awarding activity was held at Sta. Marcela. It was spearheaded by the Agricultural Production Coordinating Office (APCO) of the province Ms. Digna D. Villanueva and Mayor Rodolfo B. Juan. Area Coordinator Marjorie Tangliben, Agricultural Nel Mark A. Rasay and Roldan A. Orteza, Municipal Agriculturist Franklin Abad, Focal Person Japhet Agbayani, assisted in the awarding ceremony.
In Flora, SAAD Area Coordinator Marjorie Tangliben, SAAD Agricultural Technicians Roldan A. Orteza, and Nel Mark A. Rasay headed the awarding and distribution of the sheep. Along with them were the Municipal Agriculturist (MA) Ms. Evelyn Cabulay and SAAD Focal Person of the municipality Ms. Gladys Lamug.
The farmer-partners expressed their gratitude for the assistance of the SAAD Program.###
