SAAD delivers 70 bags of upland rice seeds and 11,848 bags of fertilizers to LDS

LANAO DEL SUR – The Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program of Lanao del Sur (LDS) distributed 11,848 bags of various fertilizers and 70 bags of upland rice seeds to farmers from different municipalities this second quarter of the year.

One hundred forty-nine (149) farmers from the municipality of Madalum received the seeds along with 430 bags of complete fertilizer, 110 bags of urea, and 300 bags of vermicast on July 18 and 24, 2019. The United Nations – Food and Agriculture Organization provided the seeds.

According to the Madalum Municipal Agriculture Officer Abu Mahdi Disma, the distribution is perfect timing for farmers since the typhoon Falcon had just hit some parts of the province.

Meanwhile, a total of 11,008 bags of various fertilizers were also distributed beforehand. These comprised of urea, complete, muriate of potash, ammonium phosphate, ammonium sulfate, vermicast, foliar, and Bio-N.

The municipalities of Pagayawan, Calanogas, Sultan Dumalondong, Madalum, Marantao, Duadupuso-Buntong, Lumbaca Unayan, Madamda, Marogong, and Tubaran received the fertilizers on June 18, 2019.

There are still more than 4,000 bags of fertilizers to be distributed to Masiu, Kapatagan, Malabang, Buadipuso-Buntong, and Amai Manabilang.

The interventions given were part of the FY 2017 rice and corn projects of the SAAD Program in Lanao del Sur.

Due to peace and order situation, the implementers had difficulty in accessing the province. ###
