SAAD ZaNorte distributes seeds, fertilizers, and garden tools for vegetable production

ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE – The municipalities of Sergio Osmeña and Baliguian in Zamboanga del Norte recently received vegetable seeds, fertilizers, and garden tools from the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

On the 21st of November 2018, five (5) vegetable growers’ associations of Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte got 20 bags of urea, 10 bags of ammonium phosphate, 10 bags of muriate of potash, and 10 bags of chicken dung.

Each group also received 20 units of plastic crate, 2 units of knapsack sprayer: 10 pieces of trowel; 10 pieces of gona, 10 pieces of seedling tray, 10 pieces of water sprinkler, and a 60-kg capacity weighing scale.

The associations are from Barangays Bagong Baguio, Buenavista, Don Eleno, Tinindugan, and Tuburan.

The local government unit of Sergio Osmeña facilitated the turn-over ceremony at the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist.

SAAD Zamboanga del Norte also conducted mass distribution of vegetable seeds, garden tools, and fertilizers this November 2018 for the farmers of Baliguian.

The farmer-partners expressed their sincerest gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte and DA Secretary Emmanuel Piñol for providing help to hard-to-reach barangays through the SAAD Program.

They said that once they produce vegetables, they will invite Secretary Piñol to witness their harvest festival.

Meanwhile, Secretary Piñol shared that SAAD was distinguished by the Philippine Statistics Authority as one of the two programs of DA which showed positive results in addressing rural poverty and productivity. ###
