IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY – The Department of Agriculture (DA) through its Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program turned over machinery and equipment worth P3.395 million to 25 SAAD partner farmers’ associations for FY 2018. It was held during the event called Mass Turn Over of Farm Machineries and Equipment in support of DA’s Farm Mechanization Program on the 27th of September 2018 at the Universidad de Zamboanga Gymnasium, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Some 25 farmers’ associations from 14 municipalities, covered under the SAAD Program in Zamboanga del Norte, received ceremonial certificates from DA RFO IX Director Constancio G. Alama and Assistant Regional Director for Operations Engr. Dennis H. Palabrica.
Among the machinery and equipment turned over were one hammer mill, two rice mills, one corn mill, two hermitic cocoons, one peanut grinder, 15 collapsible dryers, one hand tractor, two freezers, 12 incubators, 12 brush cutters, and eight water pumps.
The farm machineries and post-harvest facilities are expected to boost the production volume of the farmers. They will also ease the burden of farmers brought by traditional farming methods.
Respective municipal agriculturists, and association presidents and their members attended the event.
Zamboanga del Norte is one of the 30 priority provinces of the SAAD Program. The program is being implemented in all of its municipalities. ###
