July 19, 2018

ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE – The Department of Agriculture (DA) – Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program in Zamboanga del Norte held a series of Community-based Financial Management Training (FMT) in the different covered municipalities of the province from June until July of this year.

The two-day Community-based Financial Management Training (FMT) is designed to put to the challenge the economic responsibilities of the farmer-partners of the program in setting financial priorities, protect the financial interest of the organization from risks, and set sustainable financial plan and goals.

The FMT in the municipality of Siayan was held on June 26-27, 2018. Farmers from barangays Balunokan, Datagan, Litolet, Macasing, Moyo, Seriac, and Soguilon actively participated in the training. The event was also attended by Provincial Agriculturist Maybel Bustalino and staff.

Farmers from the municipality of Sindangan were also trained on June 28-29, 2018. They are from barangays Benigno Aquino, Dagohoy, Imelda, Inuman, Lapero, Motibot, Nipaan, RG Macias, and Titik.

The undying support of the Sindangan Municipal Agriculturist Office through the strong leadership of Ms. Luz Dela Cruz and her staff was also felt during the two-day training workshop.

The main objectives of Community-based FMT are to establish a sound community-based financial management system, adapt and incorporate basic concepts of financial management, establish basic bookkeeping system and cash flow management, establish control system on the financial aspect, and apply the learnings in their respective association or cooperatives.

Similar activities were also conducted during the said dates in the municipalities of Katipunan and Manukan.

Meanwhile, a series of FMT is also being conducted in La Libertad, Sibutad, Gutalac, Labason, Liloy, and Salug. ###
