ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE, PHILIPPINES—Forty-four (44) Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program farmer-beneficiaries from Barangay Teresita, Municipality of Piñan, Zamboanga del Norte received farm inputs under the program’s Corn Production Project on February 22, 2018.
The inputs that the farmers were able to take home were comprised of eleven (11) bags of Open Pollinated Variety (OPV) white corn and complete fertilizer, as well as urea fertilizers at 44 bags each.
The activity was supported by the Provincial Agriculturist, Ms. Celsa Gayapa, and her staff -Mr. Richard Baliling, Mr. Aggie Sumog, and Ms. Arlene Taan; and SAA-Zamboanga del Norte staff – Area Coordinator (AC) Irish Jane Mallo and Information Technologist (IT) Jeffrey Nigos.
Aside from the said barangay, six (6) more municipalities are also set to receive the same inputs: Mutia, Sergio Osmeña, Sindangan, and Tampilisan with one (1) barangay each; Godod, with two (2) barangays; and Leon Postigo, with three (3) barangays.
