10 Cotabato FAs to produce fresh chicken eggs

COTABATO, December 1, 2021 – Ten (10) farmers’ associations (FA) with 267 members from five municipalities in Cotabato received 2,000 layer chicken to produce fresh table eggs. The poultry were distributed in Amas, Kidapawan on November 26.

The project amounting to Php 1.3 million is under the FY 2021 Layer Chicken Production of the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program.

Each group received 200 chickens which were placed in a communal area (ranging from 500-1,000 square meters). Each member will take turns in project management to acquire maximum output and profitability. The chickens are expected to lay eggs after a month.

The beneficiaries, whose source of income is by growing mixed crops, hope that the poultry project will help them earn and save money for the education of their children. Their produce from their 1-hectare farm each is just enough to feed their families.Table 1. Cotabato FAs who receive the FY 2021 Layer Chicken Production
