SAAD distributes Vegetable Production inputs to Catanduanes

CATANDUANES – The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Catanduanes of the Department of Agriculture (DA) distributed inputs for Vegetable Production Project to six (6) covered municipalities, which are Bagamanoc, Baras, Bato, Gigmoto, Panganiban, and San Miguel.

The inputs include 440 sets of garden tools (shovel, rake, hoe, and sprinkler), 220 drums, 1,100 seedling trays, 110 wheelbarrows, and 1,100 organic fertilizers. They were distributed from September to October 2019.

Fifteen (15) farmer-groups received the inputs for communal vegetable gardening. They are from the following barangays: a) Barangays Salvacion, Suchan, and Quezon of Bagamanoc, b) Barangays Salvacion, San Miguel, and Cabuyuan of Panganiban, c) Barangays Tilod and San Miguel of Baras, d) Barangays Cagraray and San Roque of Bato, e) Barangays San Pedro, Sioron, and San Vicente of Gigmoto, and f) Barangays Balatohan, San Marcos, and Tobrehon of San Miguel.

The distributions were spearheaded by SAAD Area Coordinators of Catanduanes, and assisted by the local government officers, municipal agriculturists, and High Value Crops Development Program agricultural technician John Eric Bernal.

The Vegetable Production Project, which is primarily intended for the beneficiaries’ food consumption, is part of SAAD Catanduanes’ implementation for FY 2019. ###
