SAAD Caraga staff develop simplified business plan for Phase 2 farmers

AGUSAN DEL NORTE, November 23, 2023 – Capacitating staff in preparing business plans for Phase 2 farmers’ associations (FAs), the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Caraga conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) in Business Plan Preparation from November 20 to 21, 2023.

Staff from DA-Caraga Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP) Ronald G. Camba, Organizational Development Officer, and Loraine P. Hingpit, Business Development Officer, served as training resource persons.

Held in the Municipal Agriculture Office, Remedios T. Romualdez, Agusan del Norte, the training, which was participated by 17 technical staff from DA regional and provincial offices, delved into crafting a business plan that includes an executive summary, marketing analysis, operational and financial plan, economic impact, and sustainability mechanism.

The training also included a workshop with the staff divided into groups and drafting a business plan per province improvising the template provided by the resource persons.

With the ToT, the trained staff will cascade a similar simplified training to the SAAD-assisted FAs by FY 2024.

In its Phase 2 implementation, SAAD Caraga currently assists 28 farmers’ associations in Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands with livelihood interventions ranging from crop to livestock and poultry production.

Relevant to one of the goals of the Program for the FAs to establish their respective community enterprises, Business Plan is among the required documents to seek additional support from DA and relevant agencies to sustain and expand their enterprising operations.###
