CARAGA, June 8, 2023 – Strengthening farmers’ project management and group relations skills, another batch of over 200 farmers from the Province of Dinagat Island (PDI) and Surigao del Norte (SDN) completed Organizational Development Training conducted by the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) from May to June 2023.
As part of the social preparation activities of the Program before turnover, the training aims to strengthen the group’s appreciation of the projects and internalize the importance of participation to sustain their operations with modules on the foundations of associations, internal and external factors affecting group business operations, and strategies for conflict management.
The introductory training was participated by members of nine (9) start-up farmers groups from the municipalities covered by the SAAD in its Phase 2 implementation.

Program regional and provincial staff served as training resource persons after completing the training of trainers about the subject this year and community organizing in 2022 supported by insights from SAAD Phase 1 implementation, where 32 groups were assisted and provided with livelihood projects.
SAAD Caraga Phase 2 assists 28 FAs from 14 priority municipalities in Agusan del Norte, SDN, and PDI. The same training was conducted among 474 farmer-beneficiaries of the Program from, said provinces from March to April 2023.
The Program expects to complete the conduct of the training in the region by the end of June this year. ###
