Boholano farmers join Bohol’s 8th Pamaskong Tabod

BOHOL, December 29, 2022 – Boholano farmers assisted by the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program gathered for the 8th Pamaskong Tabo 2022 with a theme “Malamboon nga agrikultura alang sa pagkab-ot sa seguridad sa pagkaon” (Sustainable agriculture for achieving food security) held at the Bohol Agricultural Promotion Center (B-APC) ground from December 13 to 14, 2022.

Representatives from a total of five (5) partially established community-based enterprises (CBE) from the municipalities of Buenavista, Getafe, Bien Unido, Mabini, and President Carlos P. Garcia showcased their products during the pamaskong tabo in Bohol. 

Some of the top selling products include vegetable ice cream from FY 2022 Vegetable Production, banana chips made by beneficiaries from their FY 2022 Banana-Sweet Potato Production & Processing Project, and peanut from FY 2022 Corn-Peanut Production & Processing Project.

The five (5) farmer associations (FA) – Taytay SAAD FA, Cantores SAAD FA, Putingbato United SAAD FA, Paraiso Pagtinabangay FA, and Campamanog Carabao and Vegetables FA – earned a total of Php 6,500.00.

FAs experience

Taytay SAAD Farmers Association President, Nenita Rosas expressed her gratitude toward the Program for helping them reach potential clients in the province. 

“Dako ko ug pasalamat sa DA-SAAD Program sa opportunity ilang gihatag kanamo. Karon nga tabo, nakapamaligya mi sa amoang mga processed product gamit ang kaalam gikan sa training nga among nasalmutan kabahin sa value-adding, apil na ang pag negosyo(I am very grateful to the DA-SAAD Program for the opportunity it gave us. Today, we are able to sell our processed products using the knowledge from the training we received in terms of value-adding, including doing business), Ms. Rosas expressed.

As part of the fourth component of the Program – Marketing Assistance and Enterprise Development, SAAD ensures FAs are able to showcase their products to various fairs while being exposed to new possible market chains with the goal of wider enterprise opportunities. ###
