BUKIDNON, December 15, 2021 – Five farmer associations (FA) from Kalilangan and Pangantucan, Bukidnon received Php 2.1 million worth of agricultural inputs and equipment from the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program to support corn production.

DA Region 10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado turned over the agricultural assistance on December 13.

Beneficiaries from Kalilangan and Pangantucan have a total corn production of 80 hectares (ha) and 16ha for vegetable farming.

Also, each farmer received at least 2 packs of open-pollinated variety (OPV) 5-in-1 vegetable seeds (to be planted in each 100 square meters’ backyard garden), and 25 kilograms of complete fertilizer.

“Farmers who grow corn can now benefit from the mobile corn mill received. Because it is mobile, we can now better serve our members in far-flung areas,” shared Eduardo G. Hubayan, president of MAIMPU FA.

Director Collado emphasized that the agri assistance is in support of the thrust of the department to increase productivity and reduce poverty among the marginalized sectors in agriculture and fishery. ###
