ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE, August 9, 2021 – The Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program conducted a technical training on Layer Chicken Raising for Concepcion Pangkabuhayan Association in barangay Concepcion, Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte.
The training gathered 43 members of the association on July 22 to capacitate them in project and financial management.
One of the resource speakers, Pilmico Foods Corporation field technician Randy Jumawan discussed some basic poultry production and management techniques as well as treatment and prevention for common diseases.
On the other hand, a SAAD marketing technical staff taught the farmers on simple bookkeeping.
SAAD Provincial Coordinator Roger Dave Gramatica encouraged the farmers to work together for a successful implementation of the project. Also present to support the activity are SAAD area coordinator Nadzmar Abdulatip and Barangay Councilor Larry Sarong.
“The primary objective of this training is sustainability. The program is here to guide you as long as mutual cooperation exists, so that the project will succeed and flourish,” Mr. Gramatica said.
The Concepcion Pangkabuhayan Association is a beneficiary of SAAD for two months. They are currently handling 10 modules (480 head) of layer chickens. The farmers are harvesting 13 trays of eggs daily at 84.85 % productivity rate. ###
