BUKIDNON, April 30, 2021 – The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) – Region 10 turned over three units of Multi-Crops Drying Pavement (MCDP) with Shed under 2018 fund to three municipalities in Bukidnon.
Each 600 square meters drying pavement amounts to Php 900,000 and comes with a shed to shelter and store farmers’ harvest.
It has a maximum capacity of 1,500 bags of corn and can double as a food trading post where farmers can display and sell their products.
Tugop SAAD Farmers Association (25 members) and Nacabuklad SAAD Farmers Association (25 members) in San Fernando, Mandahican SAAD Farmers Association (25 members) and Poblacion SAAD Farmers Association (25 members) in Cabanglasan, and Nitivo Marketing Cooperative (50 members) in Malitbog will benefit from the said infrastructures.
The provision of the MCDPs is part of SAAD’s enterprise development initiative in the region, capacitating the marginal farmers through the grant of income-generating interventions.
Proceeds earned from renting out the MCDPs will be accumulated as shared income of the association’s members, which they may eventually use to fund other agri-livelihood activities initiated by the association.
SAAD Region 10 has a total provision of 9 MCDPs with a shed in Bukidnon and was able to turnover four units. This year, the program expects to turnover the remaining five units. ###
