ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE, April 21, 2021- Forty-three members of the Dionum Achievers’ Farmers Association (FA) received Php 217,200 worth of inputs under the FY 2021 Corn Production Project of the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program.
The Program provided 40 bags of corn seeds (Php 34,000, 20kg/bag), 80 bags urea (Php 87,600) and 80 bags of ammonium phosphate (Php 95,600) good for 40 hectares (ha) farm area.
Piñan Mayor Cecilia J. Carreon encouraged the association to work hard and persevere in farming during the distribution at the municipality’s gymnasium.
“You are given all the inputs needed for corn farming. On your part, exert effort and persevere so that you may harvest the fruit of your labor,” said the mayor. “I’m looking forward to visiting your farms three months from now during your harvest. I will make sure to monitor the project so that the government’s efforts will not go to waste,” she added.
Association President Carlita E. Andayam is also grateful for the project. “We feel lucky for being one of the chosen partners of the DA-SAAD. As president, I will ensure that this project is well managed so that we will progress not just as farmers, but also as an association as a whole.”
Also present during the distribution to show support are SAAD Provincial Coordinator Ronillo Dusaban, Municipal Agriculturist Merlie Regencia, and other local government unit personnel. ###
