DIPOLOG CITY, February 26, 2021 – Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William D. Dar presided over the awarding of Php 24,288,586 worth of livelihood interventions to 51 farmers associations (FAs) of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program.
FA representatives came to the turnover ceremony held at the Zamboanga del Norte Convention and Sports Center. These groups were recipients of projects related to rice, corn, high-value crops (cassava, peanut, coffee, banana, papaya, cucumber, and other vegetables), and poultry (chicken) production.
The inputs turned over included 6,350 bags of inorganic fertilizer worth Php 7,126,900 to 51 FAs and 12,768 chicken (266 modules of egg laying machine) worth Php 14,515,700 under the 2021 SAAD project implementation.


SAAD also provided bao-bao trikes worth Php 2,645,986 to 14 FAs to be used as delivery vehicles.

Two associations received certificates of recognition for their outstanding operational and financial management. They were the D. Riconalla FA, a recipient of the Layer Chicken Raising Project, and Jose Dalman Corn Cluster FA, beneficiary of the Corn Production Project.
DA-SAAD Region 9, in line with the Department’s responsibility to ensure food security and sustainable agriculture, will continue giving full efforts in supporting its beneficiaries with proper training, provision of livelihood projects, and agripreneurial assistance. ###
