MOUNTAIN PROVINCE, November 16, 2020 – The Department of Agriculture provided Php 919,300 worth of Hubbard brown chickens and feeds to Mountain Province farmers to ensure food sufficiency amid the CoViD-19 pandemic.
The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program, with the assistance of the provincial local government unit (PLGU), turned over the intervention to 155 farmers.
The E-Lagan Irrigators Association (92 members), Bengasan-Bilig-Data-Mat-ao (BBDM) Farmer’s Organization (44 members), and Anabel Rural Improvement Club (19 members) received 2,060 chickens, 64 bags of chicken starter, and 144 bags of chicken grower under the Free-Range Chicken Production Project of SAAD for FY 2020 on November 16, 2020.
During the event, June Pinayakan of the PLGU encouraged each beneficiary to look after the inputs that have been provided to them.
“Do your best and make these projects serve as your bonding to strengthen your group towards food sufficiency and developing your livelihood at the same time. If you succeed, then this will be your solid passport to request for additional support from other line agencies,” said Pinayakan.
Provincial Veterinarian representative Josephine Dao-wan also reminded the farmers to conduct proper management and consult the right people if there will be problems.
“Usaren tayu kuma dagitoy it-ited iti gobyerno nga pagrugyan ket awan iti duwa-duwa nga matungpal dayta nu ited tayu iti nanumo nga taripato nga kasapulan da ken awan iti problema nu ammu iti komunsulta iti proper authorities,” Dao-wan said.
(Let us take good care of these government interventions and consult with proper authorities if there are problems so we can reach our goals.)
The associations are from the municipalities of Bontoc, Sabangan, and Sadanga. Each local government unit (LGU) assured that they will closely monitor the associations to ensure project sustainability. ###
