BOHOL, September 23, 2020 – Seventy-two (72) individual fisherfolks from Pres. Carlos P. Garcia benefited from the Php 1.7 million worth of livelihood assistance under the FY 2019 of Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 7 – Bohol Provincial Fishery Office (PFO). The project aims to reduce the cost of fishing operation, and intends to help alleviate poverty status of the fishermen.
A total of 36 units of 22-footer fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) boats with complete accessories amounting to Php 1,758,901.26 were distributed to beneficiaries from Barangay Gaus (16 fishers), Barangay Butan (12 fishers), Barangay Aguining (10 fishers), Barangay Campamanog (6 fishers), Barangay Tugnao (6 fishers), Barangay San jose (4 fishers), Barangay San Vicente (4 fishers), Barangay Baud (14 fishers); Barangay Bayog (2 fishers); Barangay Villa Milagrosa (2 fishers); Barangay Poblacion (2 fishers); Barangay Bonbonon (2 fishers); Barangay Lapinig (2 fishers); and Barangay Canmangao (2 fishers).
In addition, the said fisherfolks will also receive individual bottom set gill nets under FY 2020 allocation. SAAD Region 7 targets to distribute the nets within the 3rd week of October 2020.
The distribution was led by Bohol PFO head Candido Samijon, together with the municipal mayor and other municipal officials. ###
