Occ Min FAs granted over Php 1.8M agricultural interventions

OCCIDENTAL MINDORO, October 20, 2020 – In keeping with the objectives to increase agricultural productivity and income, the Department of Agriculture (DA) – Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program in Region 4B (MIMAROPA) granted Php 1,875,200.00 worth of agricultural interventions to three farmers’ associations (FA) in the municipality of Magsaysay.

The FAs from Brgys. Calawag and Laste received five units of pump and engine with complete accessories amounting to Php 497,500.00; 2,000 bags of organic fertilizer amounting to Php 750,000.00; four units of  hermetic storage cocoon amounting to Php 558,000.00; and two units of collapsible dryer amounting to Php 69,700.00.

Sustaining agri-productivity in Brgy. Calawag, Magsaysay

The Palayan Farmers Association with 100 rice farmer-members, tending to a 100-hectare land in Brgy. Calawag obtained two units of pump and engine with complete accessories amounting to Php 199,000.00; 1,000 bags of organic fertilizer (Php 375,000.00); two units of hermetic storage cocoon (Php 279,000.00), and a unit of collapsible dryer (Php 34,850.00) from the 2020 Lowland Rainfed Rice Production project funds of SAAD.

The Cagulayan Farmers Association, with 40 vegetable farmers cultivating a 4,000 sqm land in Brgy. Calawag, obtained a unit of pump and engine amounting to Php 99,500.00 from the Vegetable Production Project FY 2020 fund.

The turn-over ceremony was held at the covered court of Brgy. Calawag on October 8, 2020.

Towards agri-mechanization in Brgy. Laste

On October 13, 2020, the Laste Rice Farmers Association with 100 rice farmer-members,  in Brgy. Laste obtained two units of  pump and engine with complete accessories amounting to Php 199,000.00; 1,000 bags of organic fertilizer (Php 375,000.00); two units of hermetic storage cocoon (Php 279,000.00); and a unit of collapsible dryer (Php 279,000.00) from 2020 Lowland Rainfed Rice Production project funds of SAAD. The production area intended for this project is 100 hectares.

The interventions of the SAAD program in the municipality of Magsaysay aim to address farmers’ needs in agricultural inputs and machinery in order to increase overall production and alleviate the poverty situation within the community. 

Laste Rice Farmers Association chairperson Mr. Ramil Pagilagan, Palayan Farmers Association chairperson Mr. Raymond B. Masangkay, and Cagulayan Farmers’ Association chairperson Ms. Hilda Masangkay expressed their gratitude to the government through the DA-SAAD Program for the interventions provided to their respective associations.

The turn-over ceremony was held in the Pamahalaang Barangay of Brgy. Laste. ###
