21 farmers receive draft animals

September 18, 2020

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL, September 15, 2020 – Twenty (21) individual farmers received 21 carabaos (12 carabulls and 9 caraheifers) in 6 barangays of Concepcion (Small Potongan, Upper Potogan, Lingatongan, Guiban, Capule, and Layaan). The Carabao Dispersal Project worth Php 609,000.00 is under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of FY 2019.

The draft animals serve as the reliable partner of the farmers in plowing the field and carrying the farm produce and inputs from the farm to the market.

Most of the barangays covered by the program in Concepcion have a hilly terrain, which makes carabao more suitable as a means of transportation.

Misamis Occidental is located near the narrow strip of land linking Northwestern Mindanao to the North-central part of the island. Towards the western border, where Concepcion is located, the terrain is particularly rugged (PhilGis, 2020).

Meanwhile, the Provincial Veterinary Office also participated during the delivery by inspecting the 21 carabaos before handing it out to the beneficiaries.

OIC-Municipal Agriculture Officer Frederick Jhan N. Domoyan, SAAD Area Coordinator Catherine Docor, and staff from Municipal Treasurer’s Office were also present during the delivery. ###
