Antique farmer-beneficiaries harvest 444 kgs of eggplant

ANTIQUE, June 4, 2020 – A fruitful harvest of 444 kgs eggplant benefitted SAAD-beneficiaries from Brgy. Sinundolan, San Remigio. The Sinundolan ISF Upland Farmers Association’s 43 members gained from the livelihood projects of Enhanced Rice with Corn, Organic Backyard Vegetable, Vermicast, Livestock, and Poultry Production amounting to Php 7.1 million from 2019 budget. 

The Organic Backyard Vegetable Production Project costs Php 200,000, which are intended to cover a total of three hectares of upland farm. 

Last May 21 and May 27, 2020, the association harvested the eggplants from a 1.2-hectare organic farm. The eggplant was sold at Php 50/kg in San Remigio Public Market, generating a gross income of Php 22,200.

Sixty percent of the said income was used for the additional expenses for each beneficiary’s household basic needs as they were affected by the CoVid-19 pandemic, while 40% of their income saved as funds for the associations farm operation.

Mr. Compisor Solomon, the Association President, shared that he sold 96 kgs of his harvested vegetables in the town proper as well as neighboring barangays, Bugo, San Rafael, and Atabay. ###
