DA-SAAD CAR conducts 4th Quarter Regional Assessment

BAGUIO CITY, November 25-27, 2019 – The Department of Agriculture’s Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program of Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) held its 4th Quarter Regional Assessment at New Rajah Soliman Hotel.

The activity was led by Danilo P. Daguio, Regional Technical Director (RTD) for Operations of DA-CAR; Balag-ey Claver Jr., Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer (APCO) of Kalinga; Digna Villanueva, APCO of Apayao; Beverly Pikas, APCO of Mt. Province; and the SAAD regional and provincial staff. 

Also present in the activity are the SAAD national representatives, Quincel Ramos and Jennifer Valcobero. 

In his message, Daguio said SAAD-CAR should maintain its status as top performer among other regions. He also gave emphasis on the new directives of DA Secretary William Dar and SAAD Program Director Myer Mula. 

Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – SAAD Focal Person Michelle Peralta presented their physical and financial accomplishments. She shared that they will be in close coordination with SAAD from now on. 

Meanwhile, each SAAD Area Coordinator of Apayao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province also showed their accomplishments, issues, concerns, and possible solutions. Issues include backlog in profiling of the farmer-beneficiaries from 2017 to 2019. Also discussed is the issue of SAAD CAR monthly newsletter, which will be released earlier in December. Each participant is allowed to suggest a name for the newsletter. 

In addition, the SAAD national representatives presented the enhanced Implementing Guidelines for FY 2020-2022 and the SAAD Saga of Apayao which will be conducted in 2020. 

To culminate the activity, the SAAD regional and provincial staff finalized their tasking on the upcoming SAAD 4th Quarter National Assessment on December 2-6, 2019 in Baguio City. ###
