ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL—The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) held its 2nd Project Management Workshop at Camp Holiday Resort and Recreation Area, Kinawitnon, Babak, Island Garden City of Samal on 16-19 October 2018. It was hosted by DA-Regional Field Office XI.
The activity, dubbed as Business Plan Training Course, aims to continuously assess and upgrade skills to meet ever-changing organizational demands of both DA-SAAD and its co-implementor, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
Specifically, the second batch of the participants for the said workshop are expected to understand what a business plan is, including its importance and purpose. This included gaining knowledge in its marketing, organizational, technical, and financial aspects through in-depth lectures and interactive workshops.
The Training Course brought together ninety-four (94) participants from the different implementing regions of both DA and BFAR SAAD having Mr. Fernando Flores, Ms. Kristine Mercado, Mr. Roel del Rosario, and Mr. Alvin Paul Dirain from the DA Project Development Service (PDS) as resource speakers.
To further capacitate SAAD implementers of DA and BFAR in helping the farmer-partners on building successful agri-enterprises, an even more intensive workshop focusing on the financial aspect is recommended to truly instill the aspect’s learnings in the conduct or preparation of business plans. This can be applied by the SAAD Farmer Associations that will be formed with the assistance of the SAAD Program in its covered provinces. ###
