SAAD Program distributes 2,598 heads layers to 433 farmer-partners

EASTERN SAMAR—Four Hundred Thirty-Three (433) farmer-partners of the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 8 (DA–RFO 8) Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program each received six (6) heads of layer chicken in the municipalities of Jipapad, Arteche, San Policarpo, Oras, and Dolores, Eastern Samar on 26–27 June 2018.

With eagerness and joy, the beneficiaries arrived at the venue ahead of time and waited patiently for the delivery and distribution, since the supply took time coming from Cebu City. They also provided boxes as temporary cages to protect the birds from stress to keep them alive until they reached the recipients’ homes.

The remaining layers intended for Balangkayan, Hernani, Gen. MacArthur, Quinapondan, and Dolores were scheduled for the next batch of deliveries.

The Enhanced Poultry Production Project is part of SAAD Program to help alleviate the lives of poor farmers in Eastern Samar by providing them with livelihood opportunity and the required training or seminar. ###
