DA-SAAD conducts Urban Organic Gardening training to farmer-partners in Negros Oriental

DUMAGUETE, NEGROS ORIENTAL—Two (2) batches of Capability-Building and Skills Training on Urban Organic Gardening was conducted by the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) of the Department of Agriculture (DA) at Ms. Ann’s Foodtown, Bantayan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on 29-31 August, and 5-7 September 2018.

The training aims to give the participants (from Barangays Poblacion 1, & 2, Calindagan, Poblacion 7, & 8, Bagacay, and Tabuc-Tubig) with knowledge on Urban Organic Gardening Production.

Negros Oriental Provincial Coordinator (PC) Mr. Jaypee S. Soldivillo led the facilitation of the training. Providing support were Area Coordinator (AC) Ms. Marcelina U. Cabonelas (Dumaguete City), AC Engr. Maria Angelina S. Cubalan (Sibulan), SAAD Admin Ms. Angelique Babaran, and SAAD ITs Mr. Francis Ray Ozoa and Mr. Karl Cabonelas.  Support from the LGUs came from of City Agriculture Office staff headed by Mr. Albert T. Bael, and 2nd District Board Member Hon. Nilo Sayson, and APCO-Negros Oriental Ms. Sarah J. Perocho.

Aside from the conduct of training, Barangays Poblacion 1 & 2 were also provided with three (3) sacks of vermicompost, one (1) sack of carbonized rice hull, and two (2) pieces of seedling trays. Meanwhile, Brgy. Calindagan was allocated with three (3) sacks of vermicompost, and carbonized rice hull, and two (2) pieces of seedling trays. ###
