CALANASAN, APAYAO—The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) dispersed beef cattle to its farmer-partners in various municipalities in Apayao on May 21 and 22, 2018.
Five (5) heads of heifer beef cattle (Bos taurus: Brahman) with a minimum of 25 kilograms were distributed to five (5) farmers of Catablangan, Conner in Apayao (with Manag, Conner as dropping point) on May 21. The distribution has been assisted by Area Coordinator for Conner, Mr. Sunder D. Luis, and Agricultural Technician, Mr. Mark Dondon U. Budod.
Another five (5) individual farmers in Sitio Sina, Namaltugan, Calanasan were able to receive one head of cattle each on May 22: Tirso Amlag and Jemrick Parac of Sitio Sugo, Simeon Talosig of Banbaban, Danilo Litao of Sitio Aputan, and Lydia Casigay of Sitio Abbel.
SAAD-Apayao on the other hand, facilitated the delivery of buffalos in Sitio Malitao Butao (still in Calanasan) on June 1, 2018, wherein two (2) farmers, Dave Ringcodan and Percy De Leon, were listed as recipients of one (1) head buffalo.
Meanwhile, livestock hauling in Kabugao was assisted by the Local Government Unit (LGU), Field Coordinator, Ms. Aida Batil, and Field Utility, Mr. Rodelio Ruping (Natubuka Cluster).
Honorable Mayor Leonardo D. Dangoy expressed his gratitude to SAAD, by saying “Agyaman kami unay ti SAAD ket aywanan mi garod dagitoy a baka,” (We are very thankful to SAAD and we will take good care of the cattle given to us).
Also, six (6) multi-purpose threshers under the FY 2018 funds were inspected by the SAAD team in Apayao.
Apayao is one of three (3) SAAD-covered provinces in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), chosen based on the 2012 Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) poverty statistics report.
