July 26, 2018

BAGUIO CITY – The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) National Program Management Office (NPMO) conducted a Consultative Meeting for multi-year plan (FY 2019-2022) crafting for the provinces of Apayao, Mountain Province, and Kalinga in Baguio City on 2-6 July 2018.

SAAD Director Bernadette F. San Juan opened the meeting by mentioning that the SAAD was recognized by the Philippine Statistics Authority as a program that contributed in the performance of agriculture.  Further, she also encouraged each one to come up with a good plan to be able to achieve successful implementation.

Attendees from the NPMO are Dir. San Juan, Mr. Ulysses Lustria, Jr., Mr. Darwin Pamatmat, Ms. Karla Ivanah Borromeo, Engr. Maria Sandra Guinguing, Engr.  Quincel Ramos and Ms. Jeanelle Amoloza. It was also attended by the representative of DA-CARFO Planning Officer assigned for SAAD, SAAD RPMSO-CAR staff, APCO, and Provincial & Municipal Agriculturists from Apayao, Kalinga and Mountain Province.

Mr. Darwin Pamatmat, from the NPMO Planning and Budget team, discussed the mechanics of the consultative meeting. He then mentioned that the projects given to the farmer-partners will be developed into enterprises that are sustainable for their future needs.

Banana production and marketing, root crop production and processing, muscovado production and marketing, and nursery development were some of the proposals prepared by the Mountain Province, Kalinga and Apayao.  It is hoped that these projects and interventions will help uplift the lives of our poor farmer-partners in these provinces by the year 2022.

The draft proposals were critiqued by the NPMO and would be finalized and submitted within the month of July. ###
