SAAD orients Bohol for 2019 implementation

BACLAYON, BOHOL The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program will be implemented in Bohol in the year 2019. This is why the National Program Management Office (NPMO) oriented the regional implementers about community logical framework (logframe) and multi-year planning (MYP) on February 5-9, 2018.

The event was attended by the Municipal Agriculturists and some barangay officials from Bien Unida, Buenavista, Getafe, Pres. Carlos P. Garcia and Mabini; the Provincial Agriculturist, Mr. Larry M. Pamugas; and SAAD Regional Support Management Support Office (RPMSO) staff, headed by Engr. Eugene Cahiles.

In his welcome message, Mr. Pamugas thanked the Department of Agriculture and President Rodrigo Duterte for including the province of Bohol in the SAAD Program.

On her part, SAAD NPMO Operations Lead Ms. Fe Ybañez explained what the SAAD Program is all about, which is helping poor and unreached farmers. Engr. Cahiles then presented the SAAD Bohol proposal for 2019.

On the other hand, for the SAAD-BFAR implementation, mud crabs production and fattening, and fishing gears were proposed.

On the orientation and workshop sessions, the community log frame was headed by Mr. Ulysses Lustria, Jr. and Mr. Justin dela Rueda. Later, the multi-year plan was handled by Ms. Kristine Eusebio. (See more on SAAD’s community logframe and multi-year planning: /2018/01/saad-holds-extensive-project-planning-for-effective-implementation/)

Some concerns were tackled regarding the project proposals, such as the policy mechanism for the carabao project that should be made to ensure sustainability and the inclusion of farm implements for carabao, as discussed by SAAD Program Director Bernadette San Juan.

With the tools discussed by the SAAD NPMO, it was then agreed that the RPMSO 7 will call for a workshop to craft the MYPs for the SAAD Bohol. ###
