KIDAPAWAN, NORTH COTABATO, June 25, 2021 – In a field monitoring activity conducted by the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) on June 21, the Ilomavis Farmers’ Association (FA) reported an initial gross income of Php 10,000 from the FY 2019 Free-Range Production Project.

Ilomavis FA was registered at the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on December 15, 1988, with 60 members. It was also created as a requirement from the City Agriculturist that every barangay in Kidapawan City should have at least one association.

The group received Php 48,042 worth of 59 chickens and 8 bags of layer feeds on March 24.

After a month, the 60 members started to gather 40-50 pieces of eggs a day which they sold to some local buyers and in their neighborhood. Most of the sold eggs were of small and medium sizes at Php 180-200/tray.

These chickens will continue to produce eggs for up to two years, by that time, the group plans to gradually replace the old ones with new layers.

“Maraming Salamat SAAD at binigyan nyu kami ng Proyecto na Manokan. Sa 59 heads ng manok na naibigay nyu eh kumikita kami ng 10,000 Plus simula noong April 28, 2021 at hanggang ngayun. Thank you sa SAAD, Masaya ang Ilomavis Farmers Association,” said association president Matea Pablo Tan.

Fifty percent of the association’s income will be used to buy feeds and cages for the chickens.

The remaining 30 and 20 percent will be allocated for the members and maintenance cost, respectively. ###
