The Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program in Southern Leyte participates in the Agri-Fair and Garden Show 2019 held at Maasin City, Southern Leyte. This is in celebration of the 59th Founding Anniversary of the province from June 27 – July 1, 2019.

The Asuncion Farmers Association (ASFA) farmer-partners of the SAAD Southern Leyte’s Swine Fattening Project showcased their “lechon baboy” sold at Php 440.00 per kilo. Each lechon is estimated to weigh at least 45 kilos.

According to SAAD Southern Leyte Provincial Coordinator Jocelyn Cabanas, the association’s income will be used for the association’s funding and for venturing into another business.

The staff of DA-SAAD Region 8 also displayed salted eggs of individual farmer-partners of the Duck Production Project from the province.

On the first day of the activity, they sold out ten (10) trays. Each salted egg is priced at Php 10.00 each.###
