The  Marketing Assistance and Enterprise Development (MAED) Subunit of the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) in SOCCSKSARGEN marks its 68.42% accomplishment of its annual monitoring target as of May 16, 2025.

Progress of 26 out of 38 targeted associations, who received livelihood assistance under the Program, has already been monitored. The monitoring also helped determine whether the associations met the requirements to be classified as community-based enterprises (CBEs).

The participating associations monitored are engaged in different livelihood projects such as Layer Chicken, Mallard Duck, Corn Production  and Free-range Chicken Project.

For the Layer Chicken project, 12 out of 14 associations have been covered, while 10 out of 12 associations for the Mallard Duck Project have also been covered. Two (2) out of 10 associations were also covered by the monitoring activities. For the two associations engaged in the Free-range Chicken Project, the monitoring activity was already completed.

The activity also included gathering data on daily and monthly production, sales, and expenses of the participating associations. Further, the presence of CBE-related documents such as bank accounts, production and sales records, financial statements, and registration certificates were also checked and evaluated by the MAED Team.

Meanwhile, the remaining 31.58% of the monitoring target is expected to be completed by June, this year. This ensures that all associations are covered before the start of entrepreneurial mind-setting training planned for July and the following months this year.

Senior Agriculturist and MAED Unit Head Amorsolo P. Gloria, Associate Project Officers Naire Junas G. Demello, and Kristine B. Alajar composed the regional MAED Team who led the implementation of the monitoring activities across SOCCSKSARGEN.

“We are pleased to share the recent accomplishments of the Marketing Assistance and Enterprise Development (MAED) Unit, which were made possible through the strong collaboration and shared commitment of our partners. The support of the Provincial Program Management Unit (PPMU), the Regional Unit, and especially the active participation of our farmers, has played a vital role in reaching these milestones. Together, we have been able to improve market access and enhance enterprise development efforts in our communities,” said MAED Subunit Head Amorsolo P. Gloria, Sr. Agriculturist.

The regional MAED subunit of SAAD SOCCSKSARGEN emphasized that the purpose of monitoring is not just to complete the numbers but to support these associations in becoming sustainable and market-ready community-based enterprises. ###
