The Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program Phase 2 in Ilocos Region proactively updated the profiles of the Paratong Farmers’ Association last March 13, 2025, in Paratong, Ilocos Sur.

Led by Data Controller Renz Mart Lopez and Community Development Officer Calern B. Mariñas, the activity went beyond routine data collection. It also served as a key engagement to verify existing information and gather crucial updates from individual members.

Lopez emphasized the importance of this profile update for maintaining an accurate and dynamic beneficiary database.

“This process allows us to keep our beneficiary records accurate,” said Lopez. “Updated profiles help us monitor changes in their livelihoods and ensure our support remains relevant and targeted.”

The core goal was to meticulously document the Paratong farmers’ diverse livelihoods, current financial status, and specific agricultural activities.

Each farmer actively participated, providing detailed information on their primary income sources, including crop production, livestock raising, and poultry farming.

The activity also gathered vital financial data, with farmers sharing their estimated monthly earnings from agriculture. This information is crucial for understanding their economic situations and tracking the impact of DA-SAAD interventions.

Furthermore, the documentation captured details of their farming operations, such as scale, resource use, current challenges, and future goals. This provides SAAD implementers with a nuanced understanding of each beneficiary’s specific needs and context.

For Paratong farmers, participating in the profile update ensures their continued connection to essential government support and opportunities. This reinforces their vital role in local food production and secures their visibility for future program benefits that support their livelihood’s growth and sustainability. ###
